Field Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Field Operations Manager primary job functions are to ensure that the field and warehouse teams have the skills, resources, and support to consistently exceed our customers’ expectations. This position has full responsibility for daily oversight of all warehouse and field service/install personnel. This position will report to the Department Manager, and work closely with all department sales, project managers, scheduler, and administrative staff within our Overhead Door Department.

Core Hours

Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

This is an exempt management position. Hours can fluctuate due to business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct management of up to 20 field/service technicians non-exempt positions
  • Direct management of up to 3 warehouse non-exempt positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to meet customer demands, including proactively keeping talent pipeline aligned with business demand forecasts.
  • Actively participate in jobsite visits.
  • Establish and provide training program for technicians to successfully deliver quality craftsmanship on every job.
  • Ensure each direct report has all the tooling and/or resources needed to perform their job.
  • Manage daily schedule in coordination with department scheduler to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Ensure technicians have vehicles and equipment needed to execute work on a daily/timely basis.
  • Assist with customer inquiries when requested.
  • In partnership with department management, ensuring safety is #1 by facilitating monthly meetings, providing proper PPE, and following up on safety concerns promptly.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings to ensure adequate labor hours are estimated.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to implement and drive process improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work under stress.
  • Possess the ability to prioritize multiple objectives.
  • Understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Must be insurable by company’s insurance program to drive company vehicles.
    • Requires valid current driver’s license.
    • Not more than 2 moving violations in last 3 years.

Experience/Education Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant field operations experience
  • Minium of 4 years progressive field operations leadership experience
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift large, bulky, and heavy objects.
  • Must be able to navigate warehouse and reach items both high and low, with assistance as necessary.
  • Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled settings.
